I've updated the island, and I thought I'd share a few notes that might help you enjoy the game (without giving away TOO much!)
First, I added two rifts to help you navigate around a little more quickly. One is easy to see, and the other is in a place where you might not notice. (And that's the more useful one.) I also added Rift-To-Gos to the loot pool, though you won't see them until a bit later in the game.
Speaking of which, let's talk loot. Every 2 1/2 minutes, new loot spawns all over the island. That much is pretty obvious as soon as you get into the game. What's less obvious is that the loot pool changes over the course of the game.
The weapons get better, but more importantly, the mobility items get better. For example, you'll find shockwave grenades and balloons from the very beginning of the game. You could win the game using nothing but these, but only if nobody pops your balloons and shoots you out of the sky, which is unlikely, if anyone is paying attention.
Later in the game, you'll find items that give you glider redeploy, which means that, as long as you can get high enough into the air and avoid getting knocked while you glide, you'll have little trouble reaching the target. Rift-To-Gos are the ultimate item -- just rift from the launch island and glide your way to the win. So if you see one, grab it, and hope you don't drop it if someone knocks you on your way to the launch island!
There are a few items that, if you have them in your inventory, have a chance of improving the accuracy of your "jumps." I'm not going to say which items they are, what I mean by "jumps" (though I think that should become obvious pretty quickly) or how they help. If anyone can figure out the details, I'll be VERY impressed.
One final note: each time you play till the end of a game, place in the top three, or knock another player, you earn Loot Points. Depending on how many Loot Points you have at the beginning of a match, you'll get shockwaves, balloons, or a grapple glider. Loot Points carry over between games until the end of the day after which, some of them are lost each day. (I'm not sure exactly what time each day points decay...just that it happens once per day.) So it's easy to earn a little starter loot for each game just by playing a few times.
