I was disappointed with the wolf’s health. I feel the game is becoming increasingly arcade-like — as if I’m just playing casually at a friend’s house or in an arcade — similar to how hunger was removed from the game. It’s becoming less of a survival RPG over time.
I really liked what was done with the Zeppelin Balloon, but it should have worked like that since its release. Boats should work the same way as well.
When I first started playing LEGO Odyssey — which is actually what brought me into Fortnite — I thought it would be a mix of Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley (farming games) with Don’t Starve or another good survival game, combined with RPG elements.
The game has many crops and weapons that serve no purpose — especially when players can start the game and go straight to Ninjago.
There’s no RPG-style progression where each weapon has its own usefulness.
You can apply level 3 essence directly to a weapon without going through levels 1 and 2, which makes things boring. It makes levels 1 and 2 unnecessary.
Mounts — which are basic features in games like this — don’t exist. I never considered Klombo a mount. To me, a mount is a creature you craft a saddle for, befriend, and bring to your village so you can ride it whenever you want, and possibly even summon it from a distance and send it back to the village. We already have excellent candidates for this: wolves and bears, as well as horses, which should already be in the game.
Horses could be fast but have no attack. Wolves could be balanced — slower than horses but with medium attack. Bears could be the slowest but have strong attacks.
Overall, the game is getting further and further away from what I expected — a true survival experience where you deal with hunger, build villages, and defend them from attacks to create a reason to build defenses.
Something like Brick Life would also be interesting — being able to bring one of your villages into multiplayer and play with friends without needing to invite them into your world.
Right now, it’s not great to join friends’ worlds or invite them to yours, because your items don’t carry over — and neither does your village.
Hunger, machines that generate energy, and other village systems like in Palworld or Once Human are what make a game feel like survival to me.
Useful weapons and gradual character progression are what make a game feel like an RPG to me.
Recipes that work in combination — for example, stamina recipes not replacing strength or regeneration recipes, but stacking with them — would improve the RPG aspect even more.
And of course, useful recipes and farming where everything actually has a purpose make the game more enjoyable.
Currently, I only use one recipe, maybe 2 or 3 crops, and just one combination of weapons, Ninjago powers, and level 3 essence to defeat Expert Mode bosses, because there’s no reason to use anything else. There are no recipe combinations — instead, they replace each other.
Overall, the game is far from what I expected, and it keeps moving further away. That said, I really liked the Zeppelin Balloon improvement — but at the same time, it’s something that should have been added a long time ago.
Piloting flying vehicles — and others like ships, and maybe even submarines — should work exactly like cars.
