Hey! It's been a while. But don't worry, all the time I was away, I was preparing something big for Right Behind You. A load of bug fixes, QoL updates, and one major new feature. And there are some additional info by the end. But first, let's start with...

Custom Nameplates!

That's right, now you can create your own nameplates! After buying a token for 950 v-bucks, you get one slot to fill with your own nameplate. Customize its pattern*, pattern animation, and choose what color you want it to be.

*Currently available patterns

  • Prestige I; Unlocked after reaching prestige level 1; Animation is available after prestige level 30

  • Prestige V; Unlocked after reaching prestige level 5; Animation is available after prestige level 40

  • Prestige X; Unlocked after reaching prestige level 10; Animation is available after prestige level 50

  • Prestige XV; Unlocked after reaching prestige level 15; Animation is available after prestige level 60

  • Prestige XX; Unlocked after reaching prestige level 20; Animation is available after prestige level 70

  • Supporter; Included in the Intro Pack (100 v-bucks); Animation is available right away

The list of patterns will gradually increase with time.

This includes both free and paid nameplates.

Additionally, with these changes, nameplates have been updated to have better readability, with the player character now being shown as an icon. The DBNO and Losing Lives timers on the nameplates have also been redesigned, with further changes to them coming in future updates.

Other Changes

  • The shop's Apply button is no more. For the sake of the players on consoles, the buttons now detect when you hover over them. Note that clicking on the button will either buy or equip the ability.

  • Optimized the tasks, making the game run more smoothly when completing them.

  • Added the new Spatialization for the Voice Chat.

  • Adjusted the vents to a zone the monster couldn't have accessed before.

  • To enter the vents the player must look up now.

  • Adjusted the message when climbing into the upper floors instead of the vents.

  • Adjusted the survivor vent access ability to only work with actual vents.

  • Added a new climbing up section in the south-west corner of the map.

  • Adjusted some tasks to be easier to access.

  • Input actions can now be used in the nameplates screen. Other UI will support these in future releases.

  • Made textures more lightweight, improving the downloading speed of the game.

  • Changed the ability selection timer to be dynamic. The more people ready up, the less time the timer will show.

  • Added a counter to show how many players are ready.

  • Brought back the glow effect being applied to a survivor after being hit.

  • Hitting a survivor sounds more realistic now.

  • Improved the nameplate screen, adding new buttons to move to the first and last pages.

  • Removed winter decorations.

  • Removed the snowball ability.

  • Improved background logic, making it less probable for the game to crash.

  • You can now see how much time is left until the game starts while browsing your nameplates or inputting a code.

  • Portal markers are now differently colored depending on their state.

  • Added screenshots for the map.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed the issue with portals not working for a player that stood on top of it at the moment of the knock.

  • Moved some widgets away from the upper right corner because of the new Fortnite hamburger button.

  • Fixed some tasks being shown as complete, even when they are not.

  • Fixed the prestige nameplate not being selectable.

  • Fixed the prestige nameplate button having an incorrect preview after prestiging.

  • Fixed the default and prestige buttons in the nameplate list having a white background when not applicable.

  • Fixed the portal dimension fog being too strong.

  • Fixed the final portal room fog being too strong.

  • Daily Reward can't be claimed now if you have more than 969 coins.

  • Fixed a bug where after opening the nameplate selection screen or the code activation screen during the Waiting For Players screen, then opening it again during the ability selection phase and pressing back would bring the Waiting for Players screen back.

  • Fixed the flashlight losing charge faster if spammed.

  • Empty nameplates are no longer being shown for players who have left before the end of the ability selection phase.

  • Added a barrier, preventing survivors from climbing on top of prison cells.

  • Fixed a bug when the round timer would be set depending on the number of players in the ability selection phase, instead of the round start.

  • Fixed the All Small Portals Closed message not appearing at the correct time.

  • Tutorial no longer overlays another widget.

  • Tutorial no longer makes a sound when it disappears.

  • Fixed the tutorial showing the vent message, even if the vent was not there.

  • Localization has been updated, fixing inconsistencies.

  • Instant Revive is no longer being incorrectly shown as enabled during the final portal run.

  • Fixed some parts of the pre-game lobby disappearing when too far away.

  • The auto revival progress bar no longer resets after ending.

Regarding the issues with tasks not being visible, with markers being shown above them

According to this post, Epic have fixed the issue in October 2025. Because of this, I will no longer consider it as an issue on my map. In case you encounter this issue, please write a bug report here and/or upvote this card on my bug tracker.

Regarding the performance of Right Behind You

Right Behind You has always been a heavy game. The reason for that was, and still is, the lack of optimization on my part. This update has some improvements, like location loading, to prevent as much memory consumption as before. This is, however, only the first part of the journey. In the future, I plan to make the game as optimized as possible.

Regarding the future of Right Behind You

Today I would like to announce the fact that I have started working on the final version of Right Behind You. 3.0 will be the definitive edition of the game, and it will feature a complete redesign of the experience, abilities, and much more. However, this process will take time. I don't have a release window yet, but I can assure you that some features will be released in advance, to see how the players adapt to them. Maybe, some gameplay affecting changes will have a "beta" toggle, where the majority will have the option to vote to enable them. Thank you for playing!
